Pink in the Parks

Updated: Oct 13

On Sunday, September 29th, our dedicated volunteer, Brooke Herbst, kicked off the morning with the annual "Putting Pink in the Parks" event alongside the Bridgewater-Raritan High School cheerleaders. This marks the 8th year the team has supported Dance For The Cure. They were joined by Bridgewater Council Vice-President Howard Norgalis, who lost his wife to breast cancer 15 years ago, who shared an emotional talk with the team. Coaches Jeanne Faryna and Paula Discenza were also present.

Later that day the Somerville High School cheer team helped with a "Tie the Town Pink" event in Somerville. They tied pink ribbons along Main Street and Division Street. Mayor Brian Gallagher participated, as did Coach Kelly McCall, who introduced Brooke to coaching cheer 18 years ago when they coached their daughters together. Mayor Gallagher is passionate about the cause and appreciates seeing young people actively involved in community efforts.

Additionallly, alongside fellow cheerleaders from the University of Delaware cheer teams who ran a merchandise sale for their Pink Out games, these cheer teams have collectively raised a donation of $975 for DFC. We are grateful to have these cheer teams' support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to both teams and to Brooke for continuing these efforts for the cause.
